2017/18 Annual Compliance Training

New Mexico State University is committed to providing a safe and harassment free environment for its students, employees and visitors, and equal employment opportunities in all areas of occupation. It is also committed to protecting the assets of the University, students, employees, and individuals connected with the University. A key component in achieving these commitments is ensuring that employees are trained on their responsibilities related to applicable State and Federal codes, laws, and regulations.

In accordance with NMSU Policy 3.19.25, NMSU employees, regardless of hours worked or hiring type, must complete the annual compliance training certification as a condition of employment.

Online Training Modules

The 2017/18 Compliance Training year runs from October 15, 2017 to August 15, 2018 and includes the following modules.

Employees (including staff, faculty, temporary, & graduate assistants)

  • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Preventing Discrimination/Civil Rights
  • Computer & Data Security
  • Employee Safety & Loss Control: Emergency Preparedness
  • Drug-Free Workplace
  • Family & Medical Leave Act (FMLA)
  • Title IX: NMSU, A Caring Community

Student Employees (regular and work-study)

  • Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)
  • Preventing Discrimination/Civil Rights
  • Computer & Data Security
  • Employee Safety & Loss Control: Emergency Preparedness
  • Drug-Free Workplace
  • Title IX: NMSU, A Caring Community

New Employees (all hiring types)

Beginning in Spring 2018, new employees will be enrolled in the appropriate Annual Compliance Training Certification above and a New Employee Compliance Certification.  The New Employee Compliance Certification addresses critical “start of employment” information and will have a 14 day completion due date.  Employees will still have 60 days to complete the Annual Compliance Certification.

The New Employee Compliance Certification will include general, start of employment information on the following topics:

  • Compliance Overview
  • FERPA
  • Employee Safety & Loss Control
  • Preventing Discrimination/Civil Rights
  • Title IX: NMSU, A Caring Community
  • Computer & Data Security
  • Conflict of Interest
