DACC Continuing Education Division

Customized Training offers computer and professional development seminars and personalized training programs targeted to meet your needs, whether individual or group. Our trainers are experts in their fields and bring real world business knowledge to your training experience. As specialists in workforce training, we offer a wide variety of training programs ranging from customized contract training to specialized conferences and seminars.

Also, as part of the Continuing Education Division of DACC, we have a Small Business Development Center and Community Education. Small Business offers free consultation and seminars to businesses.

Community Education offers short courses or classes that improve quality of life; such as, wine tasting, conversational spanish, music, dance, writing, hobbies, etc... they are usually a few hours long.
Prices vary for Community Education and range from $10 to $30, depending on timeframe and content.

Environmental Health and Safety

Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) provides training to help improve the working environment of NMSU employees as well as ensure compliance with regulations related to safety, health and environment protection.

Monthly class schedules and online registration, as well as information on training requirements and past training history, are available on the NMSU Safety website.

Regular EH&S offerings include:

  • Employee Safety (initial orientation required of new staff, faculty, graduate assistants, and student employees),
  • Defensive Driving (required for NMSU driving permit),
  • HazCom Class (initial chemical safety training required of shop, agricultural and lab workers),
  • Laboratory Standard (additional training required for faculty, staff, grad assistants, student employees, and other researchers in NMSU laboratories),
  • Hazardous Waste Management (required for labs and other areas producing hazardous waste),
  • Radiation Safety (required for labs and other areas with radiation permits),
  • Biosafety Class (for labs workers/researchers dealing with infectious material)
  • Bloodborne Pathogens (training required for employee with regular or potential exposure to human blood),
  • Lifting Safety
  • Forklift Driving
  • Confined Space
  • Ladder Safety

HRS Training & Development

The Human Resource Services Training and Development department supports the mission of NMSU by orienting, training, and developing University employees to increase knowledge, improve skills, and develop essential competencies needed to foster employee advancement, organizational efficiency, productivity, and demonstrated excellence.  This is accomplished in a manner that fulfills client and stakeholder expectations while maintaining cost effectiveness and consistency with established practices and procedures.

ICT Training Services

ICT Training Services seeks to demonstrate excellence in both training and training materials for technology tools and enterprise applications such as: WebCT, myNMSU, Cognos, Banner and iTunes U.

Student Information Management

Student Information Management (SIM) supports NMSU Students, Faculty, and Staff. SIM promotes and facilitates NMSU with the knowledge and support to use student data technologies. SIM offers a variety of assistance which includes student data reporting, training, operating Pete’s one-stop-shop (telephone and email support), and many more services.

Teaching Academy

The Teaching Academy serves all NMSU educators through training, mentoring, and networking. Teaching Academy has several main initiatives, including workshops, short courses, scholarships to teaching conferences, and classroom observations.
