Onboarding Training


New Mexico State University is committed to providing a safe and harassment free environment for its students, employees and visitors, and equal employment opportunities in all areas of occupation. It is also committed to protecting the assets of the University, students, employees, and individuals connected with the University. A key component in achieving these commitments is ensuring that employees are trained on their responsibilities related to applicable State and Federal codes, laws, and regulations.

In accordance with ARP 6.89, NMSU employees, regardless of hours worked or hiring type, must complete Strategic & Essential Training (SET) certifications as a condition of employment.

Onboarding Training Modules

New Employees (all hiring types)

New employees will be enrolled in the New Employee SET Curriculum, which includes the current Annual SET curriculum and the Onboarding SET curriculum.  The New Employee SET Curriculum addresses critical “start of employment” information. 

The Onboarding SET curriculum will include general, start of employment information on the following topics:

  • Computer & Data Security
  • FERPA
  • Employee Safety & Loss Control
  • Introduction to the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE)

The Onboarding topics have an expected completion time of 14 days from enrollment.  The Annual topics have an expected completion time of 30 days from enrollment.  Please be sure to complete all the modules in the allotted time.
