Online Training Modules
Employees (including staff, faculty, temporary, affiliate, & graduate assistants)
The SET program for employees includes multiple, mandatory, online training modules. All regular, temporary, affiliate, and graduate assistant employees must complete all modules assigned annually (see below for student employee requirements). Depending on regulatory requirements and NMSU risk assessments, the topics may vary from year to year. For a listing of the current year’s modules, click on the appropriate year in the menu to the right.
Student Employees (regular and work-study)
The SET program for student employees includes multiple, mandatory, online training modules. All student employees must complete all modules assigned annually. Depending on regulatory requirements and NMSU risk assessments, the topics may vary from year to year. For a listing of the current year’s modules, click on the appropriate year in the menu to the right.
New Employees (all hiring types)
New employees will be enrolled in the appropriate Annual SET Certification. Additionally, new-to-NMSU employees (not rehires) are enrolled in an Onboarding SET Certification. Both certifications are required for new employees. The Onboarding SET Certification addresses critical “start of employment” information.
The Onboarding SET Certification includes the following topics:
- SET Program Overview
- Computer & Data Security
- FERPA
- Employee Safety & Loss Control
- Introduction to the Office of Institutional Equity (OIE)
Deadlines for Completion
All employees (regardless of hiring type or hours worked) are required to complete the SET program annually. The annual training program runs from January to December of each year to align with NMSU’s performance evaluation period. All current employees will be enrolled in January and must complete the training modules within 30 days of enrollment.
New hires (including returning employees) will be enrolled in the current Annual SET Certification within 72 hours of their Banner start date. Employees hired on or after November 1st will not be enrolled in the Annual SET Certification until the following January to prevent overlapping enrollments. The Onboarding SET Certification for new employees must be completed within 14 days of enrollment.
Once enrolled in the training certifications, employees will be notified via email of enrollment. Reminders will be sent via email as the deadline approaches. The NMSU email account is the email used for all official business, including notifications from Training Central.
