Strategic & Essential Training (SET) Program
New Mexico State University is committed to providing a safe and harassment free environment for its students, employees and visitors, as well as equal employment opportunities in all areas of occupation. It is also committed to protecting the assets of the university, students, employees, and individuals connected with the university. A key component in achieving these commitments is ensuring that employees are trained on their responsibilities related to applicable state and federal codes, laws, and regulations.
In accordance with ARP 6.89, NMSU employees, regardless of hours worked or hiring type, must complete the Annual SET Certification as a condition of employment.

The 2025 Annual SET Certification corresponds to the performance evaluation year (calendar year) and includes the following modules.
What’s New for 2025
**Training Central has moved to a cloud-based platform in early 2025. Due to the implementation, 2025 Annual SET enrollments were delayed. SET enrollments for all employees will commence the week of June 23rd. New employees hired after Jan 1, 2025 who have not completed Onboarding SET in Canvas will be enrolled in the New Employee SET curriculum.
