Training Central Training Partners’ Helpful Tips and Links

This page is intended for departments that offer training to NMSU employees.

CLPD is happy to partner with all departments who provide training to our employees.  Training Central, NMSU's official training record system, is administered by CLPD.  Below are helpful resources related to the training partner role.

Why should you put your training in Training Central?

  1. Participants will be able to register for your class in a familiar process.
  2. Participants will receive automatic reminders, increasing their likelihood of attending.
  3. Trainers/Instructors will have access to rosters before the class, which will help them prepare.
  4. Trainers/Instructors will have report options to analyze how the training is being used and perceived, based on completion rates and evaluation results.
  5. Training Central is the official training record for all employee training, regardless of employee type (faculty, staff, student employees; temporary, part-time, and full-time).

Definitions

A training is a structured learning experience designed to build or improve specific competencies or behaviors. It typically includes hands-on practice, interactive activities, guided instruction, assessment, and opportunities for feedback. The primary goal is to enable participants to apply what they learn in their job roles.

Refer to the Definitions document to determine which sessions need to be in Training Central.

Forms

New Course Template - used to load new training courses to Training Central.  Courses are the starting point for all instructor-led and virtual sessions.  Prior to submitting session requests, the course must reside in Training Central.

Instructions are provided on the first worksheet of the template. Comments are in the header row on some fields for additional explanation. Required fields are in red. Do not modify the template formats or headings. Your workbook will be uploaded to the system through a back-end process; any modifications to the template will cause the loads to fail.   When opening the template, you may be prompted to enable content and/or a warning about macros.  Please enable the macros and content.  Download the New Course Template.

Session Creation Ticket - as soon as your instructor-led or virtual training is scheduled, and at a minimum, two-weeks before the training is to take place, use the session creation ticket to have the session added to Training Central.  Note: for virtual sessions, Training Central automatically creates a Zoom or Teams event; there is no need for trainers to create a link.  Links are sent to the participants and the instructor at the time of creation and with the reminder immediately preceding the session.

Roster Submission Ticket - immediately following your instructor-led or virtual training session, submit the roster to have the session reported and participants' transcripts updated for attendance. All rosters must be submitted within one (1) business day of the end of the class.  You will receive a reminder message from Training Central immediately after the end of your class.

Training Creation - CLPD offers instructional design services to turn your content ideas into interactive, asynchronous (web-based) or instructor-led/virtual training.  The development of a training is a true collaboration which requires commitment from all parties.  Upon submission of the Product Development ticket, CLPD will schedule a consultation meeting with you to discuss needs, expectations, time lines, and milestones.
